Features: Since the publication of the French-Chinese Dictionary in 1978, it has been well-received by readers and has become a staple medium-sized comprehensive language dictionary for those learning and using French. However, twenty years have passed, and with the development of society, languages have evolved as well. The usage of certain words in French has changed, and many new terms have emerged. To meet the readers' needs, we began this revision in 1998. This revision has added numerous new entries, focusing on incorporating new vocabulary in fields such as economics, law, and science and technology (including computer science, information science, and biotechnology). At the same time, some outdated entries that are no longer included in most medium-sized French dictionaries have been removed, along with examples that carry the imprint of a specific era. Additionally, we have revised or supplemented the definitions and usage of a significant number of entries, made certain adjustments to the format, and adopted more recent phonetic rules based on the evolution of pronunciation. The revised dictionary now contains approximately 65,000 entries, with an increased capacity compared to the original edition. Our goal is to make the revised New French-Chinese Dictionary a more comprehensive and practical medium-sized dictionary.
