Features: In this book, the author endeavors to make a comparison between Eastern and Western philosophical civilizations, pointing out how the wisdom of Eastern philosophy illuminates the wisdom of Western philosophy. The light particles or wavelengths of both sides do not interfere with each other but rather combine in an additive effect. The writing stance or theme of this book is an author with a strong background in Eastern civilization attempting to offer a bird's-eye view of Western civilization. The way Chinese and Western people perceive the world or their attitude is not the same. Recently, American scientists, through the observation and analysis of eye movements of Chinese and American college students (a study at the level of the visual nervous system), have found that when looking at images with promising and rich backgrounds, Americans focus on the foreground, while Chinese people observe the whole picture. — This external observation method may be related to their different ways of thinking. This essay, published by Peking University Press, gives the author a sense of being on a journey home in the heart or psychologically. Because from 1955 to 1961, the author studied at Peking University. Today, using the method of publishing a book to return home is a good, highly meaningful "leaving home in youth, returning in old age." It is also a line from the poem by Tang Dynasty poet Liu Changqing: "Old roads and green mountains remain, the rest of my life, I return with a bald head."
