Patient's question:
At 28 weeks pregnant, experiencing acid reflux and vomiting sour stomach water, dry heaving, can I take Compound Weiyou?Doctor's answer:
The stomach acid in pregnant women is due to the growing fetus, which gradually increases intra-abdominal pressure. If the hiatal hernia widens, the lower part of the stomach can be pushed into the chest through the widened esophageal hiatal hernia, a medical condition known as "hiatal hernia." Since the upper opening of the stomach relaxes, stomach acid, gas, and food can all reflux into the esophagus or mouth. When stomach acid irritates the esophageal mucosa, it leads to reflux esophagitis. In pregnant women, the incidence rate is approximately 30% to 50%. Symptoms may become more pronounced in the later stages of pregnancy. Therefore, for pregnant women experiencing stomach acid: eat small, frequent meals, avoid overly sweet, spicy, or sticky foods; do not lie flat in bed after meals, and avoid lying too low or bending excessively to reduce stomach acid reflux; and maintain regular bowel movements.
