Patient's question:
I have erosive gastritis, large patches in the greater curvature and fundus of the stomach, and Helicobacter pylori. I underwent treatment to eradicate the bacteria in late September, which improved some symptoms. Before that, I experienced sharp pain in the left upper abdomen and left side, but it has been better since the treatment, though occasional discomfort still occurs.I also have a 3mm gallbladder polyp, which has not been removed, and four 6mm colon polyps that have been removed. A new acute case of nausea and vomiting led to chronic diarrhea for a year, but my bowel movements have improved recently.
Recently, I have experienced mild pain in the right upper abdomen. Is it related to the stomach, or could it be the liver or bile duct?
Doctor's answer:
If there is a recurrence of mild pain in the upper right abdomen, it is generally caused by liver and gallbladder diseases. Gallbladder polyps can also cause such symptoms to recur. If the symptoms are relatively obvious, surgical removal can be used for treatment. If they are not obvious, oral medication can be used to suppress them. Patients with gastritis can, while understanding symptomatic treatment, use folk remedies as supplementary treatment in daily life. Appropriate dietary habits should be maintained in daily meals to avoid stimulating foods.
