Can you drink pomelo tea when you have just recovered from acute gastroenteritis?

Patient's question:

Mom made honey pomelo tea herself, all using honey picked by her rural relatives, it's especially fragrant. But a few days ago, I ate too much spicy barbecue and got gastroenteritis. It took two days of taking Benylin to feel better. These past two days, I've only been eating very light food, mostly porridge and greens. Today, seeing Mom's pomelo tea, I really want to drink some. I was wondering if it's okay to drink honey pomelo tea right after recovering from acute gastroenteritis? Will it cause diarrhea?

Doctor's answer:

Acute gastroenteritis is closely related to diet. It is temporarily not recommended to drink grapefruit tea to avoid exacerbating nausea and vomiting. It is advised to consume light semi-liquid and easily digestible foods, such as congee, and to eat fresh vegetables and fruits appropriately. Spicy, irritating, and fried foods should be avoided. Medications that help balance the intestinal flora and stop diarrhea, such as probiotics, bifidobacteria, and bentonite, are needed. If nausea and vomiting are severe, oral rehydration salts should be taken to correct electrolyte imbalances, and more water should be consumed to aid in the digestion and metabolism of body fluids.
