Translating works that interpret Western academic classics and making full use of the stable achievements of Western and other circles in preserving and organizing past knowledge are of great significance in continuing the unfinished task of understanding Western intellectual traditions since the late Qing Dynasty. The translation community is not unenthusiastic about translating research works from Western academia, and there are even large-scale translation series. Obviously, the topics of such translations are basically limited to general histories or critical biographies, failing to advance toward in-depth close reading with interpretive depth. The design of this "Western Tradition: Classics and Interpretations" aims to promote a deeper understanding of the great Western intellectual tradition among academia. The selection of topics not only takes into account many urgent research gaps but also pays particular attention to choosing interpretations of classics by prominent thinkers and dedicated intellectual historians.
