Features: Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre are very different works. Jane Eyre blends too much of the author's personal experiences, making it highly lyrical at times, even to the point where emotions overshadow the story. Wuthering Heights, on the other hand, is a work filled with strange imagination. It is gloomy, with the main characters' endings being tragic—even Charlotte found it hard to understand. This is related to the author's proud personality and sensitive thoughts. Wuthering Heights tells a story of revenge. The male protagonist, Heathcliff, is an orphan adopted by his older master, growing up wild like a Gypsy. The younger master Hindley treats him as a servant, but Hindley's daughter Catherine falls in love with him. Later, Catherine cannot resist the temptation of money and status and marries the wealthy Edgar Linton, while still loving Heathcliff. Shortly after the marriage, she dies in childbirth. Heathcliff then marries Edgar's sister and cruelly abuses her, even mistreating their son. He even harms Catherine's daughter to take revenge on the Linton family.
