What causes cirrhosis?

Patient's question:

Friends often attend banquets, so they noticed fatty liver early on. However, they never took it seriously. Recently, they started feeling weak all over and losing weight. Besides the skin peeling and reverse psychology, they also frequently bleed from their gums. Most importantly, they have started urinating less. Hospital tests revealed that it has expanded into liver cirrhosis.

Doctor's answer:

Cirrhosis is a chronic liver disease caused by long-term damage to the liver from various causes such as viruses, parasites, alcohol, diet, or medications, leading to liver cell degeneration, inflammation, and regeneration, as well as widespread fibrosis of connective tissue. It gradually results in irreversible structural changes in the liver, primarily characterized by right hypochondriac distension, tenderness, poor appetite, fatigue, abdominal muscle tension, red and purple streaks, dark purple tongue, and wiry pulse. There are many causes of cirrhosis, with viral hepatitis being the main one, such as hepatitis B and hepatitis C.
