What should be done if a person with hepatitis B has an enlarged spleen?

Patient's question:

HBV ultrasound and CT scan show normal liver and liver function, only the spleen is reduced

Doctor's answer:

Under normal circumstances, the spleen cannot be touched. Organ curvature or left pleural effusion and pneumothorax can cause the spleen to move upward, making it palpable. In addition, a prone or right lateral position may allow the edge of the spleen to be touched, indicating splenomegaly. In recent years, with the widespread use of ultrasound in clinical diagnosis, a large number of "splenomegaly" that cannot be palpated by hand have been discovered. In health check-ups, approximately 15% of cases show splenomegaly on ultrasound, most of which are not palpable. Ultrasound demonstrates true splenomegaly through actual measurement, which can reflect early spleen reduction. When the spleen can be palpated by hand, it has already reduced by more than half.
