Features: With the development of human society and the advancement of science and technology, disciplines have been continuously infiltrating each other. The tasks and roles of animal microbiology have undergone significant changes and have expanded into multiple fields such as biology, medicine, public health, and environmental protection, playing an extremely important role in protecting human health and improving the economic living standards. Therefore, we have organized the writing of this reference book that combines theory with practice. The book is divided into two parts: theoretical teaching and experimental guidance. The theoretical teaching section includes an introduction, general microbiology, and a systematic part, which are the key content of the book. The general part introduces the basic theories and knowledge of the morphology, structure, physiological biochemistry, classification, ecology, nomenclature of microorganisms, their interactions with external environmental conditions, genetic variation, and animal immunology. The systematic part introduces the main characteristics of various important animal pathogenic microorganisms, microorganisms in feed, and the beneficial and harmful effects of microorganisms related to animal food hygiene. The experimental guidance section includes 21 experiments and 6 appendices, focusing on introducing the basic techniques and knowledge of microbiology. The content of this book is extensive, and universities can make appropriate arrangements for teaching based on specific circumstances. The book emphasizes the elaboration of theoretical knowledge while also introducing professional knowledge; it pays attention to both theoretical teaching and practical operations, and appropriately introduces some new content with rapid research progress in recent years.
