Features: "The sky does not ask how high it is, but one must look up to see that it is no more than tens of zhang away." Kunlun Mountain holds a special status as a mythological center, and ancient myths often feature its shadow. Among the most famous are the Chase of the Sun by Kuafu, Chang'e Flying to the Moon, Gonggong Hitting the Unstable Mountain, and the Meeting of King Mu of Zhou with the Queen Mother of the West. Ye Haotian is going to the Kunlun Sacred Mountain, not the Kunlun Mountain spoken of in the mortal world. The Kunlun Mountain of the mortal world is vast, but the true Kunlun Sacred Mountain is even greater. The sacred mountain is located "south of the Western Sea, by the shores of the Flowing Sand, behind the Red Water, and before the Black Water," surrounded by a ring of Weak Water. "The weakest in the world, there is the Weak Water of Kunlun, where even hemp cannot rise." The Kunlun Sacred Mountain is not a solitary mountain but one with mountains beyond it, with nine layers inside and outside. Each layer is separated by tens of thousands of miles. From the foot of the mountain, one sees swirling five-colored clouds and mist, reflecting the majestic and sacred "palace-like appearance." The most famous on the mountain are one god, two birds, three trees, four beasts, five gates, six gardens, seven medicines, and eight palaces.
One God: Xi Wangmu, Kunlun Mountain can be said to be her domain.
Two Birds: The Fenghuang and Qingluan, two divine birds.
Three Trees: Pearl Jade, Xuanqi, and Green Rose.
Four Beasts: Lüwu, Tulu, Qinyuan, and Kaoming Beast.
Five Gates: Five passages for entering and leaving the sacred mountain, guarded with great strictness.
Six Gardens: Pingpu, Xuanpu, Shupu, Yuanpu, Xuanpu, and Xianpu, nurseries for cultivating spiritual herbs.
Seven Medicines: Sweet Snow, White Lotus, Black Jujube, Green Lotus Root, White Tangerine, Shatang, and Jade Cream, seven kinds of spiritual medicines.
Eight Palaces: Biyu Hall, Qinhua Palace, Xuanpu Palace, Langfeng Peak, Tianqiang City, Zicui Dangfang, Yuying Palace, and Kunlun Ruins, eight palaces.
It was a marvelous and bewildering immortal world.
