Patient's question:
I only found out that my wife has chronic hepatitis B after she had our child, and that it can be passed down to the child.Doctor's answer:
Hepatitis B is an infection caused by the hepatitis B virus through blood, saliva, semen, anesthesia, and close contact. It is recommended to vaccinate the child with the hepatitis B vaccine within twenty-four hours after birth to prevent infection. When the child is born, you should actively and correctly treat it to enable early recovery, avoiding prolonged illness that may lead to worsening of the condition or infecting others. Over time, hepatitis can progress from "hepatitis B to cirrhosis to liver cancer," which is what we commonly refer to as the "third stage of hepatitis B." Hepatitis B is difficult to self-cure because the vast majority of hepatitis B patients have immune tolerance and do not produce an automatic immune response to the hepatitis B virus (HBV), leading to the condition becoming chronic and difficult to cure with general medications.
