What should I do if I have stomach pain after getting the hepatitis B vaccine?

Patient's question:

I got the hepatitis B vaccine this morning at 9:30. Now my stomach hurts a bit. I also had an ultrasound this morning which showed a small amount of fluid in the pelvis. Does this have anything to do with it?

Doctor's answer:

Generally, pain and tenderness at the vaccination site may reappear within 24 hours after vaccination. In most cases, it resolves on its own within 2-3 days.
Temporary fever may occur again within 72 hours after vaccination, usually lasting 1-2 days and resolving on its own.
2. Mild to moderate redness, swelling, and pain at the vaccination site may occur, typically resolving on its own within 1-2 days.
3. A lump may reappear at the vaccination site, usually resolving on its own within 1-2 months.
Your stomach pain and small amount of pelvic fluid have no relation to getting the hepatitis B vaccine.
