Features: Low-temperature disasters, including frost damage, freezing damage, and cold damage, are one of the important meteorological disasters affecting agricultural production and quality safety in China and Japan. In recent years, the frequency of various low-temperature disasters has shown an increasing trend. While global climate is gradually warming, the frequency of extreme climate changes has increased, with uneven temperature fluctuations, which are the objective reasons for the rise in low-temperature disaster frequency. At the same time, with the development of China's national economy and society, the crop and variety structure in agricultural production has been continuously changing. The expansion of the cultivation range of some special crops has increased their risk of frost damage, which is also one of the reasons for the increasing frequency of low-temperature disasters in China. Currently, low-temperature disasters remain a major issue in agricultural production in China and Japan. Studying the occurrence and development patterns of various low-temperature disasters, the damage patterns of different crops, and improving the level of defense against low-temperature disasters are of great significance for enhancing resistance to low-temperature disasters and ensuring the quality and safety of grain production and other agricultural products in China. To this end, supported by the China-Japan agricultural technology cooperation project, both China and Japan have conducted cooperative research on low-temperature disasters, especially on wheat frost damage, from different perspectives, carrying out a series of collaborative research efforts.
