Features: Li Ronghai was renowned in the calligraphy world, and his painting fame was often overshadowed by his calligraphic reputation. The aesthetic characteristics of antiquity, austerity, solemnity, and robust simplicity in his flower-and-bird paintings are indeed a result of his use of cursive and semi-cursive calligraphy techniques in his floral works. His calligraphic style determined the personality of his flower-and-bird paintings, and his calligraphic achievements determined the height of his art. His artistic path was broad, and he depicted a wide range of flower-and-bird themes. In his works, whether he portrayed the four famous flowers—plum blossoms, orchids, bamboo, and chrysanthemums—or depicted rural vegetables and fruits like loofah, gourds, cabbage, and radishes, the composition of their positions, the tension of the composition, the pursuit of artistic conception, and the charm of brushwork all carried a fresh, contemporary touch.
The brushwork originates from the hand but is rooted in the heart. It is precisely this modeling technique and the emotional power of brushwork that endows objects with life, allowing his flower-and-bird paintings to achieve both form and meaning, to flow freely in spirit, and to radiate a vibrant vitality like flowing water and overflowing colors.
Li Ronghai was born in 1950, also known as Taida, and is from Cao County, Shandong Province. He excels in calligraphy. In 1975, he graduated from Zibo Medical College. He has held various positions, including Secretary of the Heze Municipal People's Government, Deputy Director of the Heze Municipal Culture Bureau, President of the Caozhou Calligraphy and Painting Institute, Chairman of the Heze Municipal Federation of Literature and Arts, and Founder of the Caozhou Calligraphy and Painting Institute and Caozhou Stele Corridor. He was named one of Shandong Province's "Top Ten" Literary and Artistic Workers and served as a delegate to the 9th session of the Shandong Provincial People's Congress. He has also served as the Executive Director of the Art Development Department of the China Literature and Art Federation.
Currently, he is a member of the Party Group of the China Artists Association, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Artists Association, a council member of the China Artists Association, a council member of the China Calligraphers Association, a juror of the China Calligraphers Association, and a Research Librarian.
