Features: In the Chinese language learning of primary and secondary school students, antonyms and synonyms are equally important. Accurately using antonyms can make students' language more rich and vivid, enabling them to better express their thoughts and emotions, thereby enhancing linguistic expressiveness. This book collects over 4,000 commonly used words from current primary and secondary school Chinese textbooks and extracurricular reading materials, forming approximately 2,000 sets of commonly used antonyms based on the principle of identical syllables and opposite or relative meanings (including antonym short comments and antonym idioms). Two words of different parts of speech that can form an antonymic relationship within a certain semantic field are also included as a set of antonyms. The antonym sets are arranged in the order of the pinyin of the leading word's first character, with those having the same first character arranged by stroke count, and so on. Each set of antonyms constitutes an entry. Below each entry are columns such as Notes, Definitions, Analysis, Examples (including antonym pair examples), Related Antonyms, and Tips.
Notes: Notes are based on individual words, with only neutral tones marked, not variations; neutral tones are marked with a "·", e.g., "·dāding". Words that can be inserted with other components are marked with "∥", and some that are difficult to understand are explained in the Analysis. Idioms and phrases are treated as fixed phrases.
Definitions: Generally consist of three parts: marking the part of speech, marking the connotation (positive or negative), and explaining the common semantic field. This dictionary marks the part of speech for the collected words, but does not mark idioms or four-character phrases. The part of speech marker is placed before the Analysis for sets with the same part of speech, while different parts of speech are marked separately. The connotation is generally limited to the meaning scope of the entry, with neutral words not marked.
Examples: Examples are listed separately. A special "Antonym Pair Example" column is provided, listing sentences containing a pair of antonyms. Examples are mainly selected from primary and secondary school textbooks and extracurricular reading materials.
Tips: Briefly explains words or phrases that are easily misread, misspelled, or misused.
Related Antonyms: Based on the leading word, 1–3 related antonyms are listed.
Interactive Corner: Combining knowledge related to antonyms, the authors have provided readers with interesting questions involving antonyms, such as idioms, famous quotes, and couplets, aiming to build a platform for communication between the authors and readers, helping them review and consolidate their knowledge. For easy reference, the authors have listed the first characters of entries on both sides of the book's side margins in the same visual plane as the main text, separated by "/".
During the writing process, the authors referred to relevant reference books, striving to make the content rich and the format innovative. There may inevitably be shortcomings and errors in the book, and the authors welcome criticism and corrections from experts and readers.
