Patient's question:
During the pre-marital health check-up, I found out that my wife has hepatitis B minor positive. I'm worried that she might pass this disease to our child in the future. Can hepatitis B minor positive be self-cured?Doctor's answer:
As long as the hepatitis B virus is present in the body, infection will occur. However, the infectiousness of individuals carrying the hepatitis B virus is relatively low. The main transmission routes of hepatitis B are blood, sexual contact, and mother-to-child transmission. If a child has been vaccinated with the hepatitis B vaccine or has antibodies in their body, there is no need to worry. For individuals with minor hepatitis B (HBeAg-negative), treatment can be managed according to symptoms. If liver function is normal, treatment may not be necessary for a short period. It is recommended to take the child to the hospital for an HBsAg, anti-HBs, anti-HBe, and anti-HBc test. If the child is not infected, they can be vaccinated with hepatitis B immune globulin to produce antibodies. Hepatitis B patients should follow a diet based on lightness, avoiding smoking, alcohol, spicy, irritating, and greasy foods. Maintain a regular schedule and strengthen exercise.
