Is the hepatitis B virus transmitted through sex?

Patient's question:

I have a question that has always puzzled me. Hello, can sex spread hepatitis B? I didn't have it before, but I suspect I might have hepatitis B. Previously, when I went to the hospital for a check-up, my ALT and AST levels were high. I don't know what the connection is between the two.

Doctor's answer:

The main ways of hepatitis B infection are through blood, sexual contact, and mother-to-child transmission. Pay attention to getting vaccinated, as developing antibodies makes it less likely to transmit the virus. Starting from the 28th week of pregnancy, receive a hepatitis B immune globulin (200 IU each time) monthly. There is some debate about the effectiveness of medication during pregnancy, and some start from the 3rd month or 20th week of pregnancy; either approach is acceptable. If the pregnant woman has a negative hepatitis B DNA test, anesthesia is not necessary. At the time of childbirth, the child should also receive a dose greater than or equal to 100 IU of hepatitis B immune globulin and double the vaccine dose. One month later, administer another dose of hepatitis B immune globulin and vaccine. At the 6th month, receive only the vaccine for the third time. This method can prevent more than 90% of children from becoming infected.
