Features: Questioning technology, reflecting on technology, has always been an important academic issue that people explore and pursue, enduring through time. It is also the theme of the first annual journal on the philosophy of technology, Engineering·Technology·Philosophy. "Jian," meaning a mirror, also means discrimination. This annual journal differs from general disciplinary and professional yearbooks. It does not aim to comprehensively review the progress of the discipline over the past year or evaluate its strengths and weaknesses. Instead, it creates a free and transparent academic lens, providing scholars from all fields with a platform to observe technology, question technology, identify technology, reflect on technology, analyze the past of technology, and open the future of technology. Regarding the research on the fundamental theories of the philosophy of technology, this volume presents some new considerations. Some issues fall under the "meta-research" of the philosophy of technology, such as semantic analysis and evolutionary studies of basic categories like "engineering," "technology," and "industry," the history of the development of the philosophy of technology, and the relationship between the philosophy of technology and related disciplines. This meta-research is very necessary for the construction of the disciplinary system of the philosophy of technology. This volume not only establishes a section for this research but also considers it in the research progress and reviews. This volume continues to feature the "Research on the Philosophy of Technology Abroad" section, paying special attention to the new developments in the philosophy of technology in the United States and Germany. At the same time, it deeply feels the necessity of conducting research on the philosophy of technology within the Chinese cultural context. The editors have published a dialogue between scholars from China and Germany on the history of the development of German philosophy of technology, held in Dalian University of Technology in August 2004, hoping to contribute to the exchange and cooperation in the study of the philosophy of technology between China and foreign countries.
