Intellectual Property Series, Volume 2

Author: Zheng Chengsi
Publisher:
Publish Date: 1999-09-01
Features: The special essay placed at the beginning of the second volume of the "Intellectual Property Series" is similar in topic to the essay placed at the beginning of the first volume of the series. One of its purposes is to draw readers' attention to the impact of the internet and digital technology on intellectual property protection. It should be noted that this impact is significant. Although some discussions in the domestic intellectual property community suggest that this impact is merely a temporary "trend" or "fashion" and should be categorized as something beyond the scope of discussion, both domestic and international judicial and legislative bodies have repeatedly demonstrated that it cannot be ignored. In 1998, the Beijing Higher People's Court concluded the second instance review and final judgment of a domestic network infringement case. Almost simultaneously, the works of several famous Chinese writers were digitized and uploaded to the internet without permission, and a batch of audio recordings also faced the same fate. Starting from this volume, the series will gradually publish some foreign intellectual property laws in both Chinese and English for comparative research by domestic colleagues.
