How to prevent mother-to-child transmission of hepatitis B virus?

Patient's question:

I am a patient with chronic hepatitis B, and my bilirubin levels are high. I have only been pregnant for about one and a half months. Hello doctor, what should I do?

Doctor's answer:

Your current condition requires irregular and careful monitoring of liver function and DNA. Generally, it is recommended to attempt conception when both liver function and DNA tests are normal.
If the female partner is an HBV carrier, she should receive a high-titer hepatitis B immune globulin (HBIG) shot during the 7th, 8th, and 9th months of pregnancy to prevent the spread of HBV from the mother to the fetus.
After the baby is born, another dose of high-titer HBIG should be administered within 24 hours, along with the first dose of the hepatitis B vaccine. The second dose should be given one month later, and the third dose six months later. This approach generally maximizes the likelihood of preventing the child from becoming infected.
