How is hepatitis transmitted?

Patient's question:

How are hepatitis infections transmitted? What preventive measures should be taken in daily life?

Doctor's answer:

Hepatitis A and E are spread through the fecal-oral route, meaning they are transmitted through the digestive system. These two types of hepatitis are relatively easy to treat. Taking Hepatitis A as an example, the cure rate is 99%, with very few cases progressing to chronicity, so there is no need to be overly concerned. Hepatitis B, C, and D are spread through blood. Hepatitis D can only thrive in patients with Hepatitis B. Hepatitis B is spread through blood, and so is Hepatitis C. However, there are cases of Hepatitis C spread worldwide that are not transmitted through blood, and the mode of transmission is unclear, accounting for approximately 25% of Hepatitis C cases. Viral hepatitis has either short or long incubation periods. For Hepatitis A, the incubation period is 2-6 weeks (average one month); for Hepatitis B, it is 6 weeks to 6 months (generally about 3 months); and for Hepatitis C, it is 5 to 12 weeks (average 7.8 weeks).
