Features: Mathematics, a discipline with a long and enduring history, has remained vibrant. In the face of rapid development in modern science and technology, mathematics courses have become a common foundation for education at various levels and disciplines. As a course that is both ancient and full of youthful vitality, it naturally becomes a focal point for those concerned with educational reform. Due to its significant importance, since it was first initiated in the United States, renowned universities around the world have joined in, rapidly transforming it into an annual international competition. China first participated in the Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM) in 1990, with universities such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Fudan University. In 1992, the Chinese Industrial and Applied Mathematics Society (CIAM) organized the Mathematical Contest in Modeling for Chinese university students. By 1994, the Ministry of Education (then the State Education Commission) included it as one of the four major national competitions for university students, as part of efforts to promote quality education and reform in mathematics education. Since its inception, most domestic universities have actively participated in this competition, with nearly 40 universities annually taking part in the MCM. Since participating in the MCM, Chinese university students have repeatedly won the Grand Prize and First Prize, fully demonstrating their talent in mathematical modeling.
