Patient's question:

It's quite uncomfortable. What causes epilepsy?

Doctor's answer:

Epilepsy, also known as, is a chronic disease characterized by transient brain dysfunction caused by sudden abnormal pulses of brain neurons. The main clinical manifestations include sudden loss of consciousness, generalized convulsions, jaw clenching, lasting for several minutes, which can then gradually subside on their own, with no memory after waking up. In severe cases of epilepsy, it can recur repeatedly, many times a day. Currently, the exact cause of epilepsy is not yet fully understood, but most believe it is caused by central infection or generational genetic factors leading to inflammation.
