Features: Japanese advertising flyer design and layout design have developed alongside the American-style mass production and mass consumption economy. Layout design using computers has changed the past method of "manual layout mock-ups." By printing layout samples on computers and sending them to clients for review and discussion, clients can visualize the final outcome. Editing, modifying, and combining photos have become more flexible, and the necessity of designers' professional manual practice has diminished. However, precisely because of this, designers have begun to experience a transition between the old and the new, which is a characteristic of Japanese layout design in recent years. Moving away from traditional sensibilities and combining diverse photographic techniques, image distortion and manipulation have become popular expressive methods. These processed images have elevated the quality of layout design, a trend that has also emerged in China. The designs of Hong Kong designer Chan Yiu-Cheung exemplify this point.
