Features: The outstanding painter and calligrapher Baishi (Dehua) (1626-1705), who lived in Nanchang, was a descendant of Zhu Quan, the Ming Taizu's son and the Ningxian King. His other names and titles include Zhu Da, Chuanqi, Fahuo, Ren'an, Geshan, Xuege, and Lü. After the fall of the Ming Dynasty, to avoid persecution, he changed his name and identity, became a monk, and diligently studied the painting techniques of flowers, birds, landscapes, and calligraphy from his predecessors while creating his own style. He expressed his disillusionment with the world through his art, earning admiration from countless scholars and artists throughout the generations. Baishi excelled in flower-and-bird painting, while also being skilled in landscape painting and calligraphy. His artistic style and calligraphic works have nurtured generations of renowned painters and calligraphers, such as the "Eight ()" of Yangzhou, Ren Yi, Wu Changshuo, Qi Baishi, Pan Tianshou, Li Kuchan, and Ding Yanyong. His influence has impacted and shaped the Chinese art scene for over 300 years. In light of this, Jiangxi Fine Arts Publishing House, after eight years of effort, has collected over 1,000 works by Baishi from major museums, galleries, and collectors around the world, selecting over 940 pieces to compile and publish the five-volume Complete Works of Baishi.
