Features: To promote the exchange of academic and innovative ideas among young water resources science and technology workers, cultivate and nurture young science and technology talents, and provide a platform for young water resources science and technology talents to collide innovative ideas and showcase their talents, the China Society of Water Resources established the Youth Science and Technology Forum of the China Society of Water Resources in 2003 and held the first Youth Science and Technology Forum of the China Society of Water Resources in Shenzhen, Guangdong, in November 2003. To further stimulate the innovative thinking and motivation of young water resources science and technology workers, in response to their requests, the second Youth Science and Technology Forum of the China Society of Water Resources was held in Xi'an, Shaanxi, in November 2005, with the theme "Water Resources Sustainable Development and Technological Innovation." The forum mainly focused on discussions such as the "11th Five-Year Plan" development goals for water resources, the construction of a water-saving society, maintaining the health of river ecosystems, and research on key technologies of major projects. The forum received an active response from young water resources science and technology workers, especially many grassroots young workers on the water resources front who worked in relatively harsh conditions. Through various channels, they expressed their desire to participate in the forum and hoped to fully showcase themselves on this platform. Therefore, in the paper review process, their wishes were fully considered, and appropriate preference was given to grassroots young science and technology workers in western regions. A total of 160 papers were received for this event, and after review, 114 papers were included in the forum's proceedings, divided into seven sections: Water Resources and Water Environment; Flood Control and Disaster Reduction, Hydrology; Agricultural Water Conservation; Hydraulics and River Dynamics; Geotechnical Engineering and Structural Materials; Water Resources Informatization; Management, Policy, and Other Topics. The papers covered new technologies, achievements, initiatives, ideas, and perspectives in basic research, applied basic research, planning and design, engineering technology, development strategy research, management, and policy discussions.
