Can people with diabetes have surgery for other diseases?

Patient's question:

I now not only have diabetes but also other diseases. The doctor told me to have surgery for that condition, but I don't know if it's possible to have surgery because I have diabetes. I want to ask if people with diabetes can have surgery for other conditions. I feel it shouldn't make a difference, and what does having surgery have to do with my diabetes anyway.

Doctor's answer:

Diabetic patients can understand surgery, but their blood sugar levels must be controlled at a relatively normal level or reach a normal level before the surgery. If the blood sugar level is high, it will affect wound healing and surgical outcomes. Daily diet must focus on low sugar, low salt, and low fat, consuming more fresh vegetables, avoiding smoking and drinking beer, exercising moderately every day, controlling weight, and maintaining emotional stability. The above can be used as a reference.
