Features: In January of this year, the State Council issued the "National Overall Emergency Response Plan for Public Emergencies," which stipulates that incidents must be reported promptly. Delays in reporting, false reporting, concealing reports, and failure to report will all be held strictly accountable. The "National Overall Emergency Response Plan for Public Emergencies" also categorizes public emergencies into four types: natural disasters, accidents, public health events, and social security incidents, marking the entry of China's emergency crisis management into a standardized phase. The research findings of this book are significant and pioneering, for three reasons: First, it employs a set of indicators and a methodological system to monitor fourteen major crises throughout the year, conducting comprehensive records and analyses, which not only aligns with academic norms but also holds substantial practical significance. Second, it provides in-depth research and interpretation of specialized crises, integrating both classic and cutting-edge, as well as Chinese and Western academic achievements, expanding the academic perspective that reflects practical applications. Third, the angle, stance, and values of the crisis research are correct, with the overarching theme of minimizing damage, safeguarding public interests, and upholding mainstream values the entire study, avoiding the trivialization of crisis research into mere criticism, thus making it constructive. A recurring viewpoint mentioned in the report is that the ability of social organizations to respond to crises is now as important as their ability to create wealth. It is hoped that the research team of the "Report" will persevere, on one hand, to overcome the current shortcomings in the construction of indicators and methodological systems, as well as quantitative analysis, and on the other hand, to contribute to the popularization of crisis management education. The target audience of this education is not only government officials but also various social institutions—industries, agriculture, services, and all types of media are included. It should also help the public overcome panic about crises, thereby enhancing their ability to participate in crisis response.
