Features: The National Public English Test Level 2 is a mid-level exam among five levels, with its standard equivalent to the English proficiency of an excellent graduate from a regular Chinese high school. Candidates who pass this level will have their English skills meet the basic requirements for further studies in higher education institutions. They will also generally meet the basic communication needs in foreign-related positions such as front desk staff in hotels, general bank employees, general employees in foreign-related enterprises, and similar positions at the same level. To meet the training and learning needs of the Level 2 exam, the National College Entrance Examination Self-taught Guidance Committee has organized the writing of this textbook based on the requirements of the exam level. This textbook consists of twelve chapters, with each chapter divided into two units, covering one or two communicative topics. At the beginning of each chapter, there is a brief introduction summarizing the content and scenarios that candidates will practice in that chapter. Each unit includes: dialogues, texts, vocabulary and phrases, notes, exercises, and supplementary reading materials. At the end of the sixth and twelfth units, respectively, the textbook provides a set of mock tests. These tests are designed strictly according to the PETS Level 2 exam syllabus formulated by the National Education Examination Administration Center, enabling candidates to familiarize themselves with the standards, format, content, and structure of the exam. At the end of the textbook, there is an appendix including a communicative topics list, a functional notions list, a grammar items list, a language skills list, transcripts of listening exercises, answers to exercises, and a comprehensive vocabulary and phrases list. Additionally, the textbook is accompanied by a cassette tape featuring readings by native English speakers from the UK and the US, including dialogues, texts, listening exercises, and transcripts of the listening sections of the mock tests.
