Patient's question:
Approximately two weeks, itching and liceDoctor's answer:
The treatment for this condition primarily involves topical medications. First, as much pubic hair as possible should be shaved and burned with fire. Undergarments and briefs should be boiled or ironed. The topical medications include:0.01% cypermethrin solution. This is an efficient and low-toxicity insecticide. Apply it to thoroughly moisten all the pubic hair, and then wash it off after 3 days. This medication also kills pubic lice eggs and is harmless to humans. Note not to ingest it or get it into your eyes.
2. 25%–50% emodin alcohol extract: Apply it externally twice daily for 3 consecutive days, then use warm rice vinegar to apply, which helps break the adhesion between pubic lice eggs and hair, making it easier to remove the eggs.
Other medications that can kill pubic lice include: 25% benzyl benzoate cream, 1% mercuric chloride alcohol, 1% hexachlorobenzene ointment, 10% sulfur ointment, or Ureterine cream. 10% sulfur calamine lotion or 5% mercury oxide ointment can also be applied to affected skin areas.
