How to treat balanitis and phimosis

Patient's question:

I had a circumcision surgery in Shenyang two years ago. The doctor said it would heal after the procedure, as anaerobic bacteria can be killed with oxygen. However, it hasn't healed yet, and now I have one ulcer and one red spot. After having sex with my wife, he said he felt itchy down there. Now, even when I get an erection, my head of the penis isn't hard. Is it caused by balanoposthitis?

Doctor's answer:

Consider it to be symptoms of balanitis. The common causes of balanitis are bacterial infections due to local uncleanliness, or a weakened immune system, and fungal balanitis caused by sexual transmission. For bacterial balanitis, potassium permanganate solution can be used for cleaning, and Bactroban ointment can be applied externally for treatment. Fungal balanitis requires cleaning with sodium bicarbonate solution and the use of Daktarin ointment externally for treatment. Note the need to avoid unsafe sexual practices. If there is sexual activity, the female partner should also be examined and treated.
