Features: The series collects five general anthologies of Tang, Five Dynasties, Song, Jin, and Yuan Dynasty ci poetry, and 168 separate anthologies. If we include the ci poems of Fan Zhongren (son of Fan Zhongyan) in Fan Zhongyan's Poetry of Master Fan Zhongyan, Zhang Shu (grandson of Zhang Mu) in Zhang Mu's Poetry Residuals of Southern Lake, Feng Zunshi in Yu Ji's Music Hall of Dao Garden (from Echoes of the Cuckoo Residuals), and Xu Youren (brother of Xu Youfu) in Xu Youren's Separate Anthology of Guitan Music Hall, the total becomes 172 (as recorded by Zhao Guizhang's Complete Ci Poetry of Jin and Yuan Dynasties). If the six poems in Xu Youfu's Separate Anthology of Guitan Music Hall are correctly attributed to Xu Youfu and Xu Zhen, then one more anthology must be added). Large-scale anthologies of ci poetry have existed at least since the Southern Song Dynasty. Chen Yuansun's Annotations on the Direct Record of Books (Volume 21) lists Ci Poetry of the Two Lords of Southern Tang and other Tang and Five Dynasties general anthologies, as well as 91 separate anthologies of the Southern Tang and the two Song Dynasties, describing them as "printed by the Changsha bookshops and called the 'Hundred Anthologies of Ci Poetry'." Zhang Yan in On Ci Poetry (Volume 2) also mentions "a printed anthology titled 'Sixty Anthologies of Ci Poetry'." Due to the passage of time, these two collections may have included single anthologies that are now lost, but the full scope of the anthologies remains unseen. What is available today dates back to the late Ming Dynasty when Mao Jin compiled and published Sixty Masters of Song Ci Poetry, which actually included 61 separate anthologies of Song Dynasty ci poetry. Later, in the late Qing Dynasty, Peng Yun compiled Ci Poetry Published by the Four Seal Studio and Thirty-One Anthologies of Song, Yuan, and Jin Ci Poetry, which included two general anthologies of Tang, Five Dynasties, and Yuan ci poetry, as well as 49 separate anthologies of the Southern Tang and Song, Jin, and Yuan Dynasties. If we add three separate anthologies of Song Dynasty ci poetry by Wu Wenying, Zhu Dongru, and Zhou Mi that were not included in the above two collections, the total becomes 52. In the early Republic of China, Wu Changshou published Reprinted Song and Yuan Dynasty Ci Poetry, Tao Xiang published Continued Reprint of Song, Yuan, Jin, and Ming Dynasty Ci Poetry and Supplement to Continued Reprint of Song, Yuan, Jin, and Ming Dynasty Ci Poetry, which included six general anthologies of Tang, Five Dynasties, Song, Jin, and Yuan ci poetry, and 34 separate anthologies of Song, Jin, Yuan, and Ming Dynasty ci poetry. The series is renowned alongside these other collections.
