Chengdu's past showcases the brilliance of ancient Shu culture, Qin-Liang culture, Jing-Chu culture, and other regional cultural essences. Today, Chengdu inherits its excellent traditional culture while remaining open, progressive, and vibrant, forming a cultural style that harmoniously blends local and foreign cultures, traditional and modern elements. This has nurtured a profound and rich cultural foundation. Chengdu has been honored with titles such as "Land of Abundance," "City of Brocade," "Haven of Leisure," and "Capital of Culinary Delights." The cultural characteristics of Chengdu are difficult to describe in just a few simple words. Mysterious, legendary, and romantic—these are Chengdu's temperament. Harmonious, comfortable, and inclusive—these are Chengdu's taste. Wisdom, integrity, ambition, and innovation are the relentless pursuits of the people of Chengdu. With the rapid development of the city's economy and society, Chengdu's culture will undoubtedly become even more prosperous and diverse. Because of the richness and diversity of Chengdu's culture and urban temperament, Chengdu People's Art Museum decided to publish the "Chengdu Stories Series" and launched three substantial and highly readable works: Mysterious Chengdu, Legendary Chengdu, and Romantic Chengdu. These three books offer insightful and profound interpretations and critiques of Chengdu, this historic and culturally rich city, from different perspectives. Chengdu is a city with a long history and exceptionally rich cultural connotations. Romantic, yet not undisciplined. This is both Chengdu's temperament and the temperament of its people. This book collects 50 stories about famous historical figures in Chengdu's history, legendary scenic spots, local customs, and some excellent historical legends.
