1. This is an introduced discipline that needs to align with international standards. Although administrative practice has existed in China since ancient times, it began as a new discipline of study abroad. This discipline is commonly referred to in English as Public Administration, while the Chinese translation is still not standardized. Terms such as Public Administration, Administrative Management, Public Administration, Public Administrative Management, and Public Management are used interchangeably. In foreign countries, there is also the term Administration Sciences, which encompasses disciplines related to administration, such as Public Administration and Administrative Law. Some have discussed the distinction between administration and management, even though the terms refer to administration and management respectively, Business Administration is traditionally translated as business or business management. This shows that languages and texts have their own characteristics, and equivalent translation is not an easy task. Before finalizing translations, it is advisable to strive to align with the original meaning. This book has paid attention to this aspect, from terminology and concepts to the content system.
2. This is a newly established science that must have Chinese characteristics. For introduced disciplines, it is not enough to simply copy and follow. Some introduction is necessary, but it should not stop there or be considered sufficient.
3. This discipline has vitality and will flourish. Although the history of this discipline as a formal field of study is not long, from the overall development trend, it is quite rapid. International professional academic organizations have long existed, and there are more associations and organizations in various countries.
4. This discipline has a heavy responsibility and should be given attention and support. It is undeniable that, compared to traditional foundational disciplines, this discipline faces many unfavorable conditions in its development in China. Among the more obvious ones are the lack of long-term accumulated advantages in bibliographic resources, research achievements, and talent reserves.
