Sperm does not liquefy and has low motility, what should be done?

Patient's question:

The report shows that my sperm does not liquefy and some of them have low motility. What should I do?

Doctor's answer:

If semen is expelled outside the body and remains in a gel-like state for more than 30 minutes, it is considered a pathological condition, known as semen non-liquefaction. If it does not liquefy within 1 hour, it is referred to as semen liquefaction disorder. Common causes of semen non-liquefaction include seminal vesiculitis and prostatitis, leading to insufficient secretion of fibrinolysin by the prostate; deficiencies in trace elements (such as magnesium, zinc, etc.); congenital absence of the prostate, and so on. Sperm motility grade 2 indicates normal activity, with moderate forward movement. It is recommended that you seek medical attention early to identify the cause of the illness and receive symptomatic treatment to avoid further complications caused by the disease. Avoid frequent visits to saunas and steam baths, quit smoking, moderate alcohol consumption (excessive drinking can lead to a decline in sperm quality), use cosmetics sparingly, avoid tight pants, stay away from radiation, and eat more green vegetables for health maintenance.
