Features: This book is one of the series textbooks for civil engineering in the new century, written in accordance with the requirements of undergraduate teaching in general universities. However, considering the teaching needs of some key universities, some optional content is also arranged in the text and accompanying CD-ROM. The book is divided into seven chapters, including Introduction, Virtual Displacement Principle for Deformable Bodies, Unit and Global Analysis of Rigid-Frame Structures, Finite Element Method for Elasticity Plane Problems, Spatial and Axial Symmetry Problems, and Preliminary Finite Element Analysis of Elastic Plates and Shells. From the perspective of teaching reform, to further reform the curriculum system and content, the chapters on Unit and Global Analysis of Rigid-Frame Structures are completely explained based on the concept and method of the finite element method. However, it is also considered that if the matrix displacement method is not offered in the Structural Mechanics course, using this textbook for teaching can still meet the basic requirements of Structural Mechanics for this part of the content. For schools that have already offered the matrix displacement method, teachers can freely select relevant content from a better understanding and mastery of the finite element method. The accompanying CD-ROM of this textbook provides optional content for students with surplus learning ability, teaching source programs for reference in combination with principles and methods, and computational programs that can be used for both teaching and engineering applications. As one of the civil engineering series textbooks, this book strives to meet the needs of "broad civil engineering" and can also be used for undergraduate teaching in transportation, water conservancy, and engineering mechanics. It can also serve as a reference book for relevant engineering technicians.
