Features: This book is a study on homologous Chinese characters and words. Based on clues from 126 phonetic components, it connects 2,071 single characters, classifying them into 271 homologous word groups through the analysis of sound and meaning. Additionally, the book includes a small number of variant characters and phonetic loan characters. In terms of research methodology, the book draws on the essence of the "phonetic explanation" and "linguistic transformation" schools. During the derivation and analysis, it connects characters that are not phono-semantic compounds or phono-semantic compounds with different phonetic components, cross-referencing and verifying them with the written forms of homologous words expressed as phono-semantic compounds. This approach reflects the fundamental principle of the entire etymological work, which is to use phono-semantic compounds to guide non-phono-semantic compounds and consider various types of characters.
