Features: The term "ci" (a poetic form) originated in the Tang Dynasty, flourished in the Song Dynasty, declined in the Yuan and Ming Dynasties, experienced a resurgence during the Qing Dynasty, and continued into the modern era, unbroken. The study of ci poetry has shown a trend of continuous prosperity from the Tang Dynasty to the Song, Yuan, Ming, Qing, and the modern era. With the prosperity of ci studies, anthologies reflecting various thoughts and propositions on ci poetry have continuously emerged, becoming increasingly abundant, and it is not an exaggeration to describe them as "countless books filling a thousand cartloads." Since the Ming Dynasty, ci poetry has been categorized into two main styles— (gentle and graceful) and (bold and unrestrained)—to clarify the history of ci poetry, which has since become a consensus. As for the differences between these two styles, experts in ci studies have already analyzed their subtle distinctions, while general readers also have their own opinions. It is unnecessary to elaborate on this here, and it is also beyond the scope of a few words. In this compilation, we follow the traditional two-style categorization to create two books, 《》 (Bold Ci) and 《》 (Gentle Ci), for comparative study, hoping to provide readers with a clearer impression.
