Why do I get pubic lice?

Patient's question:

I am a good person, and my living environment is not bad either. Except for being with my husband, I haven't had any contact with anyone else. How could I possibly get something so disgusting?

Doctor's answer:

Pubic lice are a parasitic disease, primarily transmitted through sexual contact. In rare cases, they can also be acquired by sharing bedding, clothing, and other items with an infected person, possibly due to their low mobility. They can coexist with other sexually transmitted diseases, with international data indicating that approximately one-third of patients have other STIs. Most cases affect only the pubic hair, but they often spread to the hair around the anus and can also involve armpit hair, eyelashes, eyebrows, beard hair, and body hair on the chest, abdomen, and legs. In very rare cases, they may affect the scalp hair.
