The dairy industry in China has developed rapidly, achieving substantial progress in raw milk production, dairy processing, and consumption. However, inconsistencies in the development of the dairy industry have also become increasingly apparent. Excessive competition has led to milk source wars, price wars, and quality issues in dairy products, threatening the sustainable development of the industry. Therefore, studying the formation mechanisms of excessive competition in the dairy industry, exploring the evolutionary patterns of the industry, and identifying pathways to achieve effective competition are not only of great practical significance and policy value for promoting the rapid and healthy development of the dairy industry but also provide valuable insights for the resource integration and healthy development of other growing industries. Based on theoretical analysis of excessive competition in industries, this book conducts an empirical study on excessive competition in the dairy industry. Through field investigations and questionnaires, it analyzes the current issues of excessive competition in China's dairy industry. Game theory is used to examine the contractual relationships between raw milk producers and dairy enterprises, the market structure of the dairy industry, the non-cooperative strategic competitive behavior of dairy enterprises, and the market demand for dairy products—all factors influencing the intensity of competition in the dairy industry. By comparing the development of the dairy industry with that of other countries, the book proposes a normative model for effective competition in the dairy industry.
