Features: A systematic study of spiritual philosophy, which remains an underexplored academic field in the Chinese philosophical community. In this regard, the topic of this book holds significant academic value. The creativity of a philosophy is first judged by its ability to propose new questions, and second by its ability to reasonably address the questions it raises. It can be said that the monograph Spirit and Self in Modern Perspective—A New System of Spiritual Philosophy excels in both aspects. The book elaborates on a new system of spiritual philosophy, revealing that the essence of the spirit is "knowing," and concludes with the phenomenological finding of the unity of "knowing, clarity, and self." Building on this foundation, it combines the principle of causal identity to explain the origin and development process, mechanisms, and causal basis of spiritual and psychological phenomena, and argues for the "unity of one body and two perspectives" in the mind-body relationship. In connection with spiritual phenomena, the book interprets the four levels of the self, emphasizing the argument for the origin of the self and validating the intuitive conclusion of ancient philosophers about the "universe as one self." Reading this book allows readers to systematically grasp the meaning of the spirit while also gaining a more comprehensive understanding of the world and life.
