Causes: Inflammation of the seminal vesicles and prostate, tuberculosis, filariasis, stones, and trauma can lead to hematospermia, with seminal vesiculitis being the most common cause. Certain tumors, such as seminal vesicle or prostate cancer, papillary tumors of the verumontanum, and benign prostatic hyperplasia, can also cause hematospermia. Varicocele and some hematologic disorders may also lead to hematospermia.
