Features: Clinical Preventive Medicine is a practical reference book (toolbook) designed for clinical medical staff, particularly general practitioners and community health care workers, to conduct health risk factor assessment and intervention (i.e., individual preventive measures) for patients, asymptomatic individuals, and healthy individuals in clinical settings and community households. It focuses on the prevention and control of prevalent and severe health risk factors in the population, introducing healthcare professionals to methods for screening and assessing risk factors for diseases and injuries in actual practice, conducting health counseling to correct unhealthy lifestyle behaviors, and implementing specific and effective preventive measures such as standardized immunization, chemoprophylaxis, and family planning guidance. The book is divided into four parts. Part I is the general introduction. The second part introduces methods for collecting individual health risk factors, such as inquiring about unhealthy lifestyle histories and detecting early signs of sub-health (subclinical) states (physical examinations and laboratory tests), which are essential prerequisites for formulating rational individual health maintenance plans. The third part provides detailed descriptions of measures and techniques for intervening in health risk factors in clinical settings, particularly in promoting individual behavior change, such as discouraging smoking, rational nutrition, weight control, fitness and exercise therapy, oral health, family planning, mental health, controlling alcohol abuse and drug misuse, preventing sexually transmitted diseases and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS, commonly known as HIV/AIDS), preventing accidental injuries, planned immunization, chemoprophylaxis, and early screening of patients. The fourth part covers the organization and management of clinical preventive services, including the formulation of individual health maintenance plans and the organization and management methods for preventive services in clinical settings. The book's key feature is its emphasis on practicality while maintaining scientific rigor and knowledge. It is intended for clinical workers, healthcare professionals, medical students, and preventive medicine teachers in higher education institutions, and can also serve as a textbook for general practice education.
