Does prostatitis need to be treated with azithromycin?

Patient's question:

Doctor: I had a routine urine test and a routine prostate examination today. The results showed normal in the urine test; in the prostate test, white blood cells were ++ and lecithin corpuscles were +. The doctor said the prostatitis is a bit severe and recommended me to take medication for two weeks, then come back for a follow-up check. The prescribed medications are: Luohongmycin Prostate Detoxifying Capsules and another diuretic something called Hydrochlorothiazide. Since the Prostate Detoxifying Capsules are traditional Chinese medicine and Luohongmycin is Western medicine, the side effects of Western medicine are quite significant, especially since I need to take it for two weeks. May I take Luohongmycin? What is its function? Is the medication prescribed correct?

Doctor's answer:

1, General treatment: Rest in bed for 3-4 days, drink plenty of water, and avoid alcohol and spicy foods. Warm sitz baths or perineal heat applications can be performed, and bowel movements should be kept regular. Sexual activity is prohibited.
2, Antibiotic treatment:
1) When the patient has obvious systemic symptoms, a high fever, and significantly elevated white blood cell count, intravenous administration should be used. After 1 week, oral medication should be switched to continue for 1 month.
2) A broad-spectrum antibiotic that can diffuse into the prostate and act rapidly should be selected to quickly control symptoms and prevent the progression to chronic prostatitis. After obtaining bacterial culture results, a sensitive antibiotic should be chosen. Common broad-spectrum antibiotics include cephalosporins and fluoroquinolone anti-infective drugs. Common intravenous medications include:
- Suprathiazole 2.0g, intravenous infusion, 2-3 times daily;
- Cefixime 3.0g, intravenous infusion, 2 times daily;
- Levofloxacin 2.0g, intravenous infusion, 2 times daily;
- Mosifloxacin (Bayer) 400mg, intravenous infusion, once daily.
Common oral medications include:
- Dalixin 0.5g, 2 times daily;
- Lixin 0.2g, 2 times daily;
- Mosifloxacin (Bayer) 0.4g, once daily.
3, Symptomatic treatment:
1) If high fever occurs, antipyretic drugs should be given symptomatically, such as Indomethacin suppository 1/2 tablet, rectal administration, PRN (as needed); Ibuprofen 1 tablet, PRN.
2) If bladder irritation symptoms are significant, the following can be selected:
- Dorzolamide 0.2g, oral, 3 times daily;
- Harle 0.2mg, oral, once daily.
3) If urinary difficulties or retention occur, temporary suprapubic cystostomy should be performed to drain urine, or a soft silicone catheter can be left in place for catheterization.
4, Surgical treatment: If acute prostatitis has developed into a prostatic abscess, drainage surgery should be performed via the rectum or perineum. If the abscess is confined to the prostate, a urethral scope can be used for prostatic abscess puncture and drainage, followed by the injection of broad-spectrum antibiotics.
