Features: The Planning and Finance Department and the Science and Technology Standards Department of the State Environmental Protection Administration required the China National Environmental Monitoring Center to organize relevant monitoring technicians across the country to revise and republish "Analytical Methods for Water and Wastewater Monitoring" (Third Edition). After more than two years of effort, "Analytical Methods for Water and Wastewater Monitoring" (Fourth Edition) was officially published. This is an addition and improvement based on the Third Edition, summarizing the achievements of national environmental monitoring research, monitoring method research, and monitoring method standardization, and is the crystallization of the hard work of monitoring technicians. To adapt to the needs of environmental supervision and management, as well as the newly promulgated environmental quality standards, pollution source discharge standards, and relevant regulations in China, many new monitoring projects, technologies, and methods have been added in the Fourth Edition, representing significant progress compared to the Third Edition. In this edition, monitoring methods are divided into three categories:
Class A methods are national or industry standard methods (or equivalent to standard methods);
Class B methods are relatively well-researched domestically, verified by multiple laboratories, and proven to be more mature unified methods;
Class C methods are either studied and applied by only a few domestic units or directly adopted from developed countries, and have not been verified by multiple domestic laboratories. They are recommended for trial use.
Class A and Class B methods can be used in environmental monitoring and law enforcement;
Class C methods are for reference when selecting.
