Features: The children's picture book edition of Old City Stories is created by Guan Weixing, one of China's most representative watercolor painters today. With an elegant and poetic style and penetrating, unique techniques, the illustrations are fully integrated into the story's plot. The costumes, objects, and architecture depicted are meticulously researched, leaving no room for randomness or ambiguity. The detailed expressions of the characters, the play of light and air, and the rich, mature tones create an impeccable harmony between the text and illustrations. Upon its publication, the picture book Old City Stories was selected for the 1993 and 1994 "Bologna International Children's Book Illustration Exhibition," the 1993 "Bratislava International Illustration Biennial," and the 1994 "Catalonia International Illustration Biennial."
