How should I treat primary premature ejaculation?

Patient's question:

A few days ago, I went to the hospital for a physical check-up. The doctor said I had primary premature ejaculation. Upon hearing "premature ejaculation," I was very upset.

Doctor's answer:

Impotence, premature ejaculation, and other sexual dysfunction disorders often cause patients mental distress, even leading to family discord, directly impacting physical and mental health as well as work. Currently, there is no consensus on the causes of this condition, which are relatively complex. Modern medicine generally believes it is related to endocrine disorders. For example, conditions such as excessive adrenal cortex hormones, reduced male reproductive function, low gonadotropin levels, and neurasthenia can lead to impotence. It is also closely related to psychological factors.
In traditional Chinese medicine theory, this condition is often associated with the kidney, liver, and Yangming meridians, with the kidney meridian being the primary focus. Kidney yin or yang deficiency is the main cause of the condition. The kidneys store primal yin and primal yang, and neither should be exhausted; instead, they should be preserved. Preservation maintains physiological balance. Any exhaustion can lead to various pathological changes. Kidney disorders primarily include kidney yang deficiency, kidney essence deficiency, and kidney qi deficiency. The occurrence of male impotence is often due to excessive indulgence in sexual activity or early masturbation, leading to a decline in the "Gate of Life" fire and a deficiency of vital essence, resulting in coldness. Alternatively, it may be caused by excessive worry and depression, damaging the heart and spleen, or fear damaging the kidneys. It can also be due to damp-heat accumulating below the waist, causing the sinews to relax and leading to impotence. However, the main cause is kidney yang deficiency. Kidney yang is the root of the body's yang energy, responsible for warming the body, transforming fluids, and promoting reproduction and development. When kidney yang is deficient, its warming function is impaired, and qi transformation is disrupted. This results in symptoms such as aversion to cold, limb coldness, reduced sexual function, and thus male impotence with inability to achieve or maintain an erection, accompanied by dizziness, blurred vision, sore waist and legs, palpitations, insomnia, pale complexion, and lethargy.
We recommend taking Jianyang Pian, a specialized treatment for impotence and premature ejaculation caused by masturbation. Generally, two courses of medication can lead to recovery. Surgical treatment is not recommended.
