Features: The New English-Chinese Dictionary includes over 50,000 entries, along with derivative and compound words listed within the entries, resulting in a total of over 80,000 words (including basic vocabulary, general vocabulary, technical terms, abbreviations, loanwords, and geographical names). Additionally, over 14,000 idioms (including a small number of proverbs) are included in relevant entries. At the end of the book, eight appendices such as the "Common English and American Names List" are compiled. The New English-Chinese Dictionary pays attention to including words and examples that reflect China's socialist revolution and socialist construction, while also focusing on common words that reflect Western capitalist society's politics and daily life. Furthermore, a certain number of new words and new usages are selected from English and American dictionaries and newspapers in the UK and the US. To balance the needs of understanding and usage, the definitions of words are appropriately expanded within the limits of a medium-sized dictionary, and efforts are made to indicate the part of speech and prepositional relationships through the wording of the definitions. For some difficult or commonly used words, additional examples are provided to illustrate their meanings and usage.
