Features: Since the establishment of the Folk Music Examination System by the Shanghai Conservatory of Music's Center for East-West Cultural Exchange, the development of pipa (yangqin) studies, both professional and amateur, has been significant. The examination system has provided a standardized measure of performance levels, further stimulating learners' interest and boosting their confidence. To support the ongoing development of the examination system and strengthen the foundational education in pipa playing, we have implemented training and assessment for scales and etudes. After two years of practice, it has been proven to greatly enhance the effectiveness of basic pipa teaching.
Contemporary Chinese pipa art has entered a new era of development, with pipa teaching becoming increasingly standardized. The supplementary examination materials for amateur pipa players should also be continuously revised and improved accordingly. The selection of this book has been supported and assisted by experts and both professional and amateur teachers. We express our heartfelt gratitude and look forward to valuable suggestions from fellow professionals.
